フィリピンと日本の違い[compare the Philippine to Japan]
Most all Filipinos are pious Catholic, Philippines apparently has big difference between rich and poor people. It's strange that some children lives in a mansion and has luxury cars, while others can't get decent education and their reason is financial instability. On the other hand, Japan also has an extreme difference between fortunate and less unfortunate people, but not so big now. This is because there are no Japanese children who can't get a good education whose reason is being money troubled. In Japan, people say "no to religion", they don't knew painful history and the colonization by other countries.
Recently, population of Japan is decreasing, but it has 35,000 increasing number of people who committed suicides per year. And the economy in recent years continues to stagnate. On the contrary, Philippine average age is 21-22 years old, population is still increasing and Philippine economy also is growing up. This year, Philippines real estate industry is payed attention by the people of the world and it has constructed many condominiums for foreigners. But I think not all people can be benefited by this economic growth.
Philippines average salary is 300 - 400 pesos per day, it's a very cheap labor cost for a personnel and they pay 100-200 pesos for food per day. How high! Philippine's rate of Engel is coefficient.
Even though life is hard, they always wear a smile, and enjoy their life. They don't have money but they are not lazy. If they get their salary, they share it with their family and relatives. So some Filipinos can't saved money. They sometimes waste their money, as what Japanese thinks in some of "karaoke" inside shacks. It's very strange feelings for a Japanese like me because they have different way of thinking on how to prioritize and to spend their money.
If I ask someone for money, it's very impolite in Japan even if they are a close friend. But that is just normal in Philippines, just like a greeting. The reason is different way of thinking for money, not only by different sense but also the value of the money. The right of ownership of money is personal in Japan, but in Philippines money is for families, or relatives and that means, money is a common property so they share it with their uncle, cousin, aunt, niece, nephew, and they also share it to the poor. But such kind of people in Philippines is very rampant, they are pulling down the economic growth of Philippines.
